One of the best things about living on this stretch of the Puget Sound is what happens here every summer. From the Edmonds Arts Festival to the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival, from concerts in the park to the farmers market every Saturday morning, this corner of Snohomish County comes alive in ways that remind you exactly why you chose to live here. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming up in Edmonds, Shoreline, and Mukilteo this summer.

Edmonds — The Summer Calendar Starts Here

Edmonds may be a small city, but its summer events schedule punches well above its weight. There’s something happening nearly every weekend from May through September, and most of it is free or low-cost. This is one of the reasons Terry Vehrs has been telling buyers about Edmonds for over four decades — you don’t just buy a home here, you buy into a community that actually shows up for itself.

Edmonds Museum Summer Market

The Edmonds Museum Summer Market is one of the best Saturday morning routines on the Puget Sound. Every Saturday from May through October, roughly 90 vendors set up along 5th Avenue and Bell Street in downtown Edmonds — local farmers, artists, bakers, crafters, and producers, all family-owned and Washington-grown. No resellers, no imported goods. Just real local businesses doing what they do. The market runs 9am to 2pm and is the kind of thing that becomes a weekly ritual once you live nearby. Don’t forget to stop by and grab one of our new Love Where You Live market bags, while supplies last.

Edmonds Arts Festival — June 19–21, 2026

Now in its 69th year, the Edmonds Arts Festival is one of the most prestigious outdoor arts events in the Pacific Northwest. Father’s Day weekend, the Frances Anderson Center grounds and Civic Center Playfields transform into a showcase for more than 160 booth artists, juried galleries featuring work from over 400 regional artists, live music on two stages, and over 1,000 pieces of student art from K-12 students in the Edmonds School District. The whole thing is produced entirely by volunteers and admission is free. Festival hours are Friday and Saturday 10am–7pm and Sunday 10am–5pm. If you’ve never been, this is the year to go.

An Edmonds Kind of 4th — July 4, 2026

The Edmonds 4th of July celebration has been a community tradition since 1907 — one of the longest-running Independence Day events in Snohomish County. The day starts with a 5K and 1K fun run at 9:30am, followed by a children’s parade at 11:30am and the main parade through downtown at noon, drawing upward of 15,000 spectators. It’s the kind of small-town Fourth of July that most communities have lost — and Edmonds still has it. Note that Edmonds doesn’t host its own fireworks show, but Everett, Mountlake Terrace, and Seattle all have displays within a short drive.

Summer Wine Walk — June 27 and August 1, 2026

Art Walk Edmonds brings back its popular Summer Wine Walk on two Saturday evenings this summer — June 27th and August 1st, 5–8pm. Sip local wines from select boutique Pacific Northwest wineries, shop small, and support the arts in Edmonds on a gorgeous summer evening. Tickets include a wristband, tasting glasses, and wine tasting tickets. Proceeds benefit Art Walk Edmonds. Tickets sell out, so plan ahead.

Edmonds Block Party — August 7–8, 2026

Formerly known as Taste Edmonds, the Edmonds Block Party is the Edmonds Chamber’s signature summer event — a two-day music and entertainment festival in downtown Edmonds with live bands, food and drink vendors, and the kind of energy that turns a Friday and Saturday in August into something worth planning your calendar around. Mark August 7th and 8th on your calendar.

Edmonds Concerts in the Park — Mid-July through August

Presented by the EAC, these free summer concerts feature a variety of musical styles from Puget Sound area groups and ensembles. Concerts run mid-July through August at locations throughout Edmonds. It’s the kind of thing that becomes a summer ritual once you’ve experienced it — a blanket, good company, and live music on a warm Edmonds evening. Check the EAC website for the full lineup and locations as they’re confirmed.

Edmonds Sand Sculpture Contest — Friday, July 17, 2026

One of the more unique summer events on the Edmonds waterfront, the Sand Sculpture Contest takes place at Brackett’s Beach south of the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry from 11am to 3pm. Registration opens at 11am, judging begins at 1pm, and awards are presented at 2:30pm. This amateur contest is open to all ages and no pre-registration is required — just show up and bring your own buckets and shovels. For more information visit the Edmonds Waterfront Center.

2nd Annual Beach Bash — Friday, July 17, 2026

Also at Brackett’s Beach south of the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry, the Beach Bash runs from 5pm to 10pm on the same evening as the Sand Sculpture Contest — making July 17th a full day on the Edmonds waterfront worth putting on your calendar. Stay tuned for details on entertainment and vendors as the event approaches.

Edmonds Garden Tour — Sunday, July 19, 2026

Since 1997, Edmonds in Bloom has organized the Edmonds Garden Tour — a self-guided tour of eight inspiring private gardens throughout the community. It runs 11am–4pm and tickets can be purchased downtown or online. If you appreciate Pacific Northwest landscaping and gardens, this one is worth your Sunday afternoon.

Shoreline — A Growing Summer Scene

Shoreline has a strong summer events calendar of its own, anchored by its parks, community centers, and an active parks and recreation program. The community has genuine character and a growing number of events that reflect exactly what makes this stretch of the Puget Sound worth living in.

Richmond Beach Strawberry Festival 🍓 — Saturday, June 6, 2026

The Richmond Beach Strawberry Festival is one of the most charming community events in the Shoreline area — a neighborhood tradition put on by the Richmond Beach Community Association. The festival runs 11am–4pm with a children’s parade kicking things off at 10:45am. It’s a genuine grassroots neighborhood event that captures exactly what makes Richmond Beach such a tight-knit community. Mark June 6th on your calendar.

Shoreline Farmers Market

Shoreline’s local markets and community events are centered around the city’s parks and neighborhood commercial areas. Check the City of Shoreline events calendar for current market dates, summer concerts, and community programming throughout the season — the calendar is updated regularly as events are confirmed.

Richmond Beach Community Events

Richmond Beach Saltwater Park is one of the most beautiful stretches of public shoreline in the region and hosts informal community gatherings throughout the summer. The park’s sandy beach, picnic areas, and stunning views of Puget Sound make it a natural gathering point. It’s also a wonderful spot for watching sunsets over the Olympic Mountains on a clear evening — something Shoreline residents know well and newcomers discover quickly.

Mukilteo — The Lighthouse Festival and More

Mukilteo has one of the most distinctive identities of any community on this stretch of the Sound — a working ferry terminal, a beautifully preserved lighthouse, and a genuine small-town feel just minutes from major employers. Its summer calendar reflects that character.

Music at the Beach — June 26, July 24 & August 28, 2026

The Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce presents Music at the Beach on three Friday evenings this summer at Mukilteo Lighthouse Park — June 26th, July 24th, and August 28th. Gates open at 4:30pm and music starts at 6pm. It’s a wonderful way to spend a summer evening on the waterfront with the lighthouse and Puget Sound as your backdrop. Check the Chamber’s website for lineup details as the season approaches.

Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival (MukFest) — September 11–13, 2026

The Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival is one of the region’s most beloved late-summer events — three days of free admission fun at Lighthouse Park on Puget Sound. Live music, local food vendors, artisan booths, a kids’ zone, and the dramatic backdrop of the Mukilteo Lighthouse and ferry crossing make it a genuinely special event. It wraps up the summer season in style and draws visitors from throughout the region. Mark September 11–13 on your calendar.

Mukilteo Waterfront and Ferry Activity

One of the underrated pleasures of summer in Mukilteo is simply spending time near the waterfront. The Discover Mukilteo website is the best source for keeping up with local events, dining along the waterfront, and community happenings throughout the season. The ferry to Whidbey Island runs year-round and makes for a wonderful day trip — particularly in summer when the crossing offers views of the Olympics and the North Cascades on a clear day.

Terry’s Take

People often ask Terry what makes this part of the Puget Sound worth the premium over other Seattle suburbs. The honest answer is that you can quantify the views, the commute times, and the school ratings — but you can’t fully quantify what it means to walk to the farmers market on a Saturday morning, watch the ferry cross the Sound at the Arts Festival on Father’s Day weekend, or hear live music drifting through City Park on a July evening.

This is a community that genuinely invests in its shared life together. That’s not something you find everywhere. And it’s one of the reasons the people who move here tend to stay.
